La Löhrtor era una de las tres grandes puertas de la fortaleza de la ciudad de Siegen, que en aquel entonces pertenecía a Nassau, y que hoy forma parte de Renania del Norte-Westfalia. Estaba situada en el lado sur del casco antiguo, en el Siegberg, justo al sur de la intersección de la Kohlbettstraße con la actual Löhrstraße.
En el año 1338, la puerta fue mencionada por primera vez con el nombre de "Puerta de Wetzlar". También la actual Löhrstraße, que pasa por la puerta, tenía otro nombre. Fue mencionada en 1404 como "wetslergasse" y fue llamada por primera vez "loirgasse" en 1455. Este nombre ha permanecido hasta hoy y solo ha cambiado entre las denominaciones "-gasse" y "-straße".
