La 5. División Aérea () fue una división de la Luftwaffe alemana en Strausberg desde 1990 hasta 1994. Se estableció con la reunificación alemana el 3 de octubre de 1990 y se renombró como 3. División Aérea el 1 de abril de 1994. Desde el 1 de abril de 1963, existía en Birkenfeld una autoridad de comando del mismo nombre, que fue renombrada como 2. División Aérea el 1 de abril de 1971.
El comando de la 5. División Aérea se estableció como una estructura de transición hasta 1994, ya que de acuerdo con el Tratado Dos Más Cuatro, durante el período hasta el final del despliegue de tropas rusas, ninguna de las fuerzas militares bajo mando de la NATO podía operar en Alemania Oriental. Por lo tanto, el comando de la 5. División Aérea tenía la tarea de dirigir de manera autónoma las fuerzas de la Luftwaffe en Alemania Oriental y, al mismo tiempo, desmantelar en la medida de lo posible las antiguas fuerzas aéreas del Ejército Popular Nacional.
