La estación de tren Essen-Altenessen es una estación regional en el distrito de Altenessen en Essen, situada en la línea ferroviaria Duisburg–Dortmund. Debajo de ella se encuentra la estación de metro homónima de la ciudad de Essen.
La estación fue inaugurada el 15 de mayo de 1847 por el ferrocarril Cöln-Mindener con la sección Duisburg–Hamm bajo el nombre Essen CM y, por lo tanto, fue parte de la línea principal de la Compañía de Ferrocarriles Cöln-Mindener. Así, fue la segunda estación en el actual territorio de Essen, después de la inauguración en 1846 de la estación Essen-Bergeborbeck, que en aquel entonces se consideraba un lugar apartado.
