La empresa de propiedad pública VEB Lokomotivbau Elektrotechnische Werke „Hans Beimler“ Hennigsdorf, nombrada así en honor al político Hans Beimler y a la ubicación de la fábrica en Hennigsdorf, fue un fabricante de vehículos ferroviarios en la RDA y el único productor de locomotoras eléctricas allí.

Además de las locomotoras eléctricas de las series 211, 242, 251, 250, 212/243/114/112 y 252 de la DR, a partir de 1964 también se fabricaron en serie las locomotoras diésel de la serie V 60.12 y de la serie 110 desarrolladas por el VEB Lokomotivbau „Karl Marx“ en Potsdam-Babelsberg. Asimismo, se fabricaron diversos tipos de vagones para ferrocarriles mineros, así como varios tipos de vehículos de tracción para la exportación y para el metro y S-Bahn de Berlín.
