La casa patria en Pfronten es una antigua construcción de trabeado que está incluida en la lista de los monumentos históricos de Pfronten. El edificio original fue trasladado dos veces a una nueva ubicación.
En la baja Edad Media, se establecieron más hospicios donde las personas pobres y enfermas de la localidad, así como peregrinos de paso, podían encontrar refugio. En el sur de Ostallgäu, se crearon tales instituciones benéficas en 1465 en Füssen, 1501 en Marktoberdorf y 1503 en Nesselwang. Entre estos, se realizó una fundación similar en la vecina Vils en Tirol y dos años antes también en Pfronten. La denominación para esta "estación social" no siempre es la misma. En Pfronten se le llamaba Seelhaus o albergue de los miserables, y más tarde, hospital.
