El Salzach es el tributario izquierdo superior del Saalbach en el Kraichgau, en la parte occidental de Baden-Württemberg. Nace en Maulbronn, en el distrito de Enzkreis, es el principal suministro de agua del monasterio de Maulbronn y fluye después de 15 kilómetros hacia Bretten, en el distrito de Karlsruhe, donde se une al Weißach.
El nombre Salzach se refiere a una posible extracción de sal anterior en Salzhofen, un despoblamiento que hoy está parcialmente cubierto por casas más nuevas en el borde sur de la ciudad de Bretten. En la Edad Media, el Saalbach llevaba el nombre de Salzach hasta su desembocadura.
