Se han extraído ricos depósitos de arena y grava por la empresa Gelsenrot a partir de 1990 en el llamado Esch a lo largo de la carretera Rheder. Se creó un lago de extracción de aproximadamente 16 ha, que hoy se conoce como Klostersee. Se estableció un conjunto de casas de campo junto al lago, y la renaturalización de las áreas ribereñas se completó en 2004.
