Rich sand and gravel deposits were dredged by the Gelsenrot company from 1990 onwards on the so-called Esch along Rheder Straße. An excavation lake of about 16 hectares was created, which is now called the Klostersee . A country house settlement was built on the lake, and the renaturation of the shore areas was completed in 2004.
