À partir de 1990, l’entreprise Gelsenrot a dragué de riches gisements de sable et de gravier sur ce que l’on appelle l’Esch le long de la Rheder Straße. Un lac d’excavation d’environ 16 hectares a été créé, qui s’appelle aujourd’hui le Klostersee . Une maison de campagne a été construite sur le lac et la renaturation des rives a été achevée en 2004.
