Ophausen se encuentra en las laderas de la región montañosa de Bergisches. Los pueblos vecinos son Herfterath al noreste, Müllerhof al sur y Oberdreisbach al oeste. Entre Ophausen y la carretera estatal 350 se encuentra el camping Bröltalpark.
En 1901, el pueblo tenía 38 habitantes. Aquí vivían los labradores Hilger Behr, Peter Josef Büth, el albañil Heinrich Franken, los labradores Joh. Albert Kreuzer, Heinrich Josef Kröner, la labradora viuda Joh. Heinrich Schmitz, los labradores Joh. Peter Schmitz, Stephan Schmitz y el sastre Peter Josef Wippermann.
