Aracena es un municipio y localidad de España, en la provincia de Huelva, Andalucía. Se encuentra en la serranía a la que da nombre, Sierra de Aracena, la cual forma parte de Sierra Morena, y cuenta con una población de 8255 habitantes [3] y una superficie de 184,45 km².Hay restos arqueológicos en la zona que atestiguan la presencia humana en etapas prehistóricas ,[4] aunque hubo varios periodos de despoblación casi total, estando la escasa población que había, diseminada por varias aldeas. La repoblación llevada a cabo por leoneses, gallegos y portugueses no tuvo éxito hasta principios del siglo XV.[5]
