Sabadell es una ciudad y municipio español de la provincia de Barcelona, en la comunidad autónoma de Cataluña. Actualmente es cocapital de la comarca del Vallés Occidental, junto a Tarrasa. Es el quinto municipio de Cataluña por población, con 216 520 habitantes .

La ciudad fue pionera en la Revolución Industrial en Cataluña dentro del sector textil y a mitad del siglo XIX se convirtió en la ciudad lanera más importante de España; de hecho, era conocida por el nombre de «la Mánchester catalana» en la segunda mitad del siglo XIX.[2] Aún hoy se pueden observar numerosas chimeneas y vapores, muchos de ellos reconvertidos en lugares de servicios sociales tales como bibliotecas o áreas de juventud. Esta herencia textil ha dejado en la ciudad un marcado carácter industrial. A lo largo de las últimas décadas, Sabadell se ha ido diversificando alrededor del sector de los servicios.
