La construcción del castillo de Manqueospese o Aunqueospese fue iniciada en 1490 por Pedro Dávila, capitán del duque de Alba, sobre un territorio usurpado a la comunidad de Ávila. Esta presento un pleito que obligó a paralizar las obras, de tal manera que no pudo ser terminado hasta 1504, por Esteban Dávila, hijo del anterior. Según diversos estudios el actual castillo se asienta sobre una antigua fortificación musulmana. Es propiedad del duque de Medinacelli.
