El Museo Diocesano y Comarcal de Solsona fue creado en 1896, dependiente de la diócesis de Solsona, para preservar el patrimonio de la diócesis, por el obispo Ramón Riu i Cabanes,[2] aunque su deseo de que fueran devueltas las obras que el obispo Josep Morgades se había llevado al museo Episcopal de Vich no lo consiguió, pero sí la salvaguardia de muchas obras de arte de las iglesias del obispado.
