Le Musée diocésain et comarcal de Solsona a été créé en 1896, dépendant du diocèse de Solsona, pour préserver le patrimoine du diocèse, par l'évêque Ramón Riu i Cabanes,[2] bien qu'il n'ait pas réussi à faire restituer les œuvres que l'évêque Josep Morgades avait emportées au musée épiscopal de Vich, mais il a bien réussi à sauvegarder de nombreuses œuvres d'art des églises de l'évêché.
