Lahti [ˈlɑhtis] es la capital de la región de Päijänne Tavastia, situada en las orillas del lago Vesijärvi . Es la séptima ciudad más grande de Finlandia.Lahti consiguió el reconocimiento como ciudad en el año 1905 aunque se conoce su existencia desde el 1443. Su desarrollo se debe a encontrarse en el paso de la línea de ferrocarril que va desde Helsinki hacia San Petersburgo construida en 1870 y también gracias al asentamiento de refugiados de la Guerra de Invierno que tuvo lugar entre Finlandia y Rusia en el siglo XX. Desde 1923 y gracias a su trampolín de saltos de esquí, Lahti es conocida mundialmente como una de las estaciones de esquí de mayor importancia.
