Esta antigua abadía, un monumento histórico en el valle de Bovenschelde, es una importante abadía cisterciense del siglo XII. Fue fundada en 1132 por San Bernardo y alberga una serie de manifestaciones culturales y artísticas. La sala capitular es la más grande de Europa. Alrededor de la abadía se ha creado un recorrido que conduce desde espacios sagrados hasta espacios mundanos. Pasea por el corazón de la iglesia donde crece abundante lavanda, relájate en un jardín en ambientes zen. Además, hay un huerto, un frutal, un jardín de rosas y una plaza con plantas perennes. Se lleva restaurando durante más de 26 años con el apoyo de la asociación "Los amigos de la Abadía de Vaucelles."
