En el corazón de París, en la Île de la Cité, el Palacio de Justicia ocupa más de 4 hectáreas, con una superficie de casi 200.000 m² repartidos en varias plantas. Antaño residencia de soberanos, el Palacio encarnaba los poderes legislativo, ejecutivo y judicial. Cargado de historia, aún guarda muchos secretos sobre sus primeros años, en particular durante los reinados merovingio y carolingio. Considerado monarca por derecho divino, el rey tenía todo el poder en sus manos.
