El Hôtel-Dieu de Carpentras, construido a mediados del siglo XVIII, era uno de los hospitales de la capital del Comtat Venaissin. Si bien no fue el primero de Carpentras, fue el más imponente. Sucediendo a otros cinco establecimientos hospitalarios cuyos períodos de funcionamiento a menudo se superponían, fue patrocinado por Joseph-Dominique d'Inguimbert, conocido como dom Malachie, obispo de Carpentras, y el papel que desempeñó durante dos siglos no es independiente de la historia de sus predecesores. Es tanto su sucesor como su culminación. Su construcción comenzó en 1750, y fue atendido, según la voluntad del obispo, por hermanas hospitalarias a partir de 1764.
