Fue este último, Charles Marqués de Praslin, quien vendió el castillo en 1596 a Louis Le Mairat, Señor de Droupt Saint Basle y Alcalde de Troyes.
Uno de sus hijos, Jean 1er Le Mairat, Señor de Droupt, Consejero del Gran Consejo, hizo construir el castillo actual en 1626.
Fue adquirido bajo el Consulado por el primer Prefecto de Aube, Claude Louis Bruslé, más tarde Barón de Valsuzenai.
Construido en ladrillo y piedra sobre cimientos de piedra, es de puro estilo Luis XIII y tiene un aspecto muy fino.
Dos pabellones se añaden a la fachada del lado del jardín, que es un hermoso parque francés.
El castillo fue declarado Monumento Histórico el 18 de marzo de 1930, y el jardín recibió la etiqueta de Jardín Notable en 1965.
El castillo es una residencia privada. Se puede visitar el exterior del castillo y la antigua casa fortificada, así como el parque y el jardín francés. Abierto del 1 de agosto al 15 de septiembre, así como durante las Jornadas Europeas del Patrimonio. Todo el año, previa petición, para grupos.
