El Castillo de Abbadia se alza frente al océano y fue edificado por Eugène VIiollet Le Duc entre 1864 y 1879. Con una arquitectura neo-gótica y ricamente decorado, este edificio lleva la marca de la pasión orientalista de su propietario Antoine d'Abbadie (1810-1897) donde instaló un observatorio astronómico que permitió también a equipos de observadores establecer catálogos de estrellas. Viajó mucho y realizó la primera cartografía de Etiopia. Fue un ardente defensor del idioma y de la cultura del País Vasco al que fue siempre muy apegado.
