En 1830, el edificio de la iglesia, dedicado a San Lorenzo, que había sido ampliado en 1779, fue demolido y reconstruido en un tamaño mayor. Durante los años 1860 - 1864, se construyó un nuevo tambor y un nuevo campanario, rematado por una aguja piramidal que giraba uno de sus bordes hacia el sur.
La iglesia fue gravemente dañada por los bombardeos al final de la última guerra y no fue reparada hasta 1949.
