Nel 1830, l'edificio della chiesa, dedicato a San Lorenzo, che era stato ampliato nel 1779, fu demolito e ricostruito in dimensioni maggiori. Tra il 1860 e il 1864 furono costruiti un nuovo tamburo e un nuovo campanile, sormontato da una guglia piramidale che rivolgeva uno dei suoi spigoli verso sud.
La chiesa fu gravemente danneggiata dai bombardamenti alla fine dell'ultima guerra e fu riparata solo nel 1949.
