La comunidad protestante, que contaba con un centenar de miembros en 1868, decidió abrir una suscripción pública para construir un templo (cerca de la actual estación de ferrocarril de Lunéville). Además de la subvención estatal, muchos particulares de todas las confesiones hicieron donaciones. La iglesia protestante se construyó en una zona que se estaba desarrollando rápidamente tras la instalación de la línea de ferrocarril, inaugurada en 1852.
El lugar de culto, modesto en sus líneas y proporciones, pronto se quedó pequeño porque, tras la anexión de Alsacia y parte de Lorena en 1871, 10.000 emigrantes, entre ellos muchos protestantes, se instalaron en Lunéville. Sin embargo, el edificio no se amplió. La pequeña galería del Templo fue simplemente duplicada y ampliada.
En 1970, con motivo del centenario de este lugar de culto, unas nuevas vidrieras diseñadas por el Sr. MACOIN sustituyeron a las originales.
