Dos de los últimos puestos de los GRM (Gardes Républicains Mobiles) restaurados en el Mosela se encuentran en Saint-Avold. Estos blocaos permitieron retrasar el avance del enemigo a lo largo de las carreteras principales, antes de que la guarnición se retirara a la línea Maginot situada a 7 kilómetros hacia Faulquemont. Una se encuentra en la salida norte de Saint-Avold (cruce de la Avenue de Fayetteville y la Route du Puits) y la otra hacia el este (en la RD 603 junto al restaurante Auberge de la forêt).
