Twee van de laatste gerestaureerde GRM-posten (Gardes Républicains Mobiles) in het Moezelgebied bevinden zich in Saint-Avold. Deze blokkades maakten het mogelijk om de opmars van de vijand langs de hoofdwegen te vertragen, voordat het garnizoen zich terugtrok naar de Maginotlinie die 7 kilometer richting Faulquemont lag. De ene bevindt zich aan de noordelijke uitgang van Saint-Avold (kruispunt van de Avenue de Fayetteville en de Route du Puits) en de andere in oostelijke richting (op de RD 603 naast het restaurant Auberge de la forêt).
