La Necrópolis Nacional de Vergaville contiene los cuerpos de 1161 soldados (335 de los cuales son desconocidos) víctimas de los combates del 19 y 20 de agosto de 1914, pertenecientes principalmente a los regimientos del Midi.
En el corazón de la Necrópolis Nacional de Vergaville, el monumento a la memoria de los "soldados franceses del XV Cuerpo" presenta su magnífica escultura: una mujer, una lorenesa, sostiene en sus brazos a un joven soldado de infantería francés herido de muerte, coronado por un elaborado arco.
