El acueducto de Gier es el más largo que traía agua a Lugdunum en tiempos de los romanos. En Mornant, el acueducto adopta la forma de un túnel de 825 metros de longitud. El pozo, de más de 19 metros de profundidad, daba acceso al túnel.
