Situado en el valle del Mosa, a 20 km al noroeste de Verdún, el cementerio alemán de Consenvoye alberga a 1.148 soldados, lo que lo convierte en el mayor cementerio alemán. En 1920, las autoridades francesas decidieron reunir aquí a los soldados alemanes muertos en los combates entre Verdún y Stenay durante la I Guerra Mundial.
Fue aquí donde, el 22 de septiembre de 1984, el canciller alemán Helmut Kohl y el presidente francés François Mitterrand presentaron juntos sus respetos. En 2016, François Hollande y Angela Merkel visitarán juntos el cementerio.
