Der deutsche Friedhof von Consenvoye liegt im Maastal, 20 km nordwestlich von Verdun, und beherbergt 11148 Soldaten, was ihn zum größten deutschen Friedhof macht. Bereits 1920 beschlossen die französischen Behörden, die deutschen Soldaten, die während des Ersten Weltkriegs zwischen Verdun und Stenay gefallen waren, an diesem Ort zu versammeln.
Am 22. September 1984 gedachten an diesem Ort der deutsche Bundeskanzler Helmut Kohl und der französische Staatspräsident François Mitterrand gemeinsam der Gefallenen. Im Jahr 2016 werden es François Hollande und Angela Merkel sein, die gemeinsam auf diesem Friedhof gedenken werden.
