Con la creación de la fábrica real de Dijonval en 1646, Sedán, recién anexionada a Francia, se convirtió en el primer centro de fabricación de finas sábanas "a la holandesa". Durante más de 300 años, Dijonval fue un lugar de trabajo industrial donde miles de hombres y mujeres trabajaron para hacer grande y famosa la industria textil de Sedán. Los edificios que aún se conservan, que recuerdan más a un palacio que a una fábrica, son un magnífico ejemplo de la arquitectura del siglo XVIII. Sólo es visible la fachada.
