Es gracias al vado de Pairé, que permite cruzar el Sèvre Niortaise, que en la Edad Media se desarrolló el barrio de Villedieu du Pont de Vau, hoy municipio de La Crèche. La historia de este edificio comenzó a principios del siglo XV, cuando Aimery de Magné, escudero, señor de Isle y Sainte-Néomaye, decidió hacer construir una casa urbana de piedra. Allí permanecía con sus sirvientes el tiempo necesario para gestionar sus asuntos, mientras que el resto del año permanecía en su castillo
Con el deseo de asegurarse la gracia de Dios, en 1438, por testamento, legó su casa de la Ville Dieu a una organización religiosa para acoger a los peregrinos que viajan a Santiago de Compostela en Galicia por el camino entre Cherveux y Celles-sur-Belle. Durante la Revolución, esta casa noble, convertida en capellanía, fue vendida como propiedad nacional
