La plaza Jorrand debe su nombre a Paul Jorrand, médico de Guérande que poseía una casa en la rue du Prat, muy cerca de esta plaza, que recibió su nombre en 1941. Paul Jorrand estudió en el Collège de Felletin y luego en la Facultad de Medicina de París, donde se doctoró en 1909. Comenzó su carrera como médico de minas en Liévin antes de trasladarse a Guéret tras la Primera Guerra Mundial de 1914-1918.
