El Museo de los Amigos del Viejo País está instalado en el castillo medieval de Dieulouard, parcialmente restaurado. Presenta los restos galo-romanos del yacimiento de Scarpone y la reconstrucción de un pequeño cementerio funerario galo-romano bajo tejas.
La principal vía romana de Lyon a Tréveris vía Metz cruzaba el Mosela en Dieulouard, la antigua Scarpone. Este asentamiento en la terraza aluvial baja estaba dividido en islotes unidos por puentes de piedra y madera, y a principios de la Edad Media seguía siendo un punto estratégico para cruzar el Mosela.
