En la Edad Media, Rougemont era un feudo del señorío de Aschères, pero ambos dominios se han unido a menudo a lo largo de la historia en manos de poderosas familias. A mediados del siglo XII, Aubert de Pithiviers era el señor de Rougemont y Aschères, que fue heredado por su hija Isabelle, esposa de Guy de Nemours: de esta época data el alto pórtico fortificado con su gran puerta ojival, al que se accede por un puente de pie. El resto de la mansión fue modificada considerablemente en el siglo XVI por Charles Hotman, maestro de cuentas en París, señor de Rougemont.
