Desde Milly, Lamartine, de niño, bajaba por las pendientes de Monsard para unirse a Bussières y a las lecciones del abad Dumont. Este último reposa detrás de la iglesia clasificada del pueblo. Desde Monsard (407 metros) y la montaña de Cras (505 metros), el horizonte ondula sobre el paisaje tan familiar para el poeta.
