Se conoce como la «Tragedia de Hillsborough» al suceso ocurrido el sábado 15 de abril de 1989 en el estadio de Hillsborough, en Sheffield, Inglaterra, Reino Unido, en el que fallecieron 97 personas aplastadas contra las vallas del estadio a causa de una avalancha. El suceso tuvo lugar durante el partido de fútbol entre el Liverpool y el Nottingham Forest, correspondiente a las semifinales de la Copa de Inglaterra.
