Deva Victrix, o simplemente Deva, fue una ciudad-fortaleza legionaria ubicada en la provincia romana de Britania.[1] Nacida como un mero asentamiento, evolucionó hasta convertirse en la ciudad de Chester, capital del moderno condado de Cheshire . Su construcción está fechada en la década de 70 del siglo I, cuando la Legio II Adiutrix la edificó para emplearla como fortaleza defensiva en su avance contra los brigantes, tribu que habitaba el norte de la isla.
