Situado entre Lough Glore y Lough Lene, y Lough Ban, Irlanda, la Colina de Ben domina el valle donde la abadía de Fore fue construida por De Lacy de la familia Lord de Meath para los monjes benedictinos franceses. Se eleva bruscamente entre las otras colinas circundantes que se entrelazan con los numerosos loughs de Westmeath. La leyenda local dice que el sucesor de San Patricio, llamado Benigne, se dice que predicó desde la colina para llevar el evangelio a las comunidades locales.
