Knockalla Fort es una de varias baterías napoleónicas construidas a lo largo de las costas de Lough Swilly en el condado de Donegal, para defender el noroeste de Irlanda. Formó parte de un esquema para fortificar Lough Swilly y Lough Foyle contra la invasión francesa durante las Guerras Revolucionarias y Napoleónicas y se completó entre 1812 y 1813. Al otro lado del Lough se encuentra Fort Dunree. El fuerte fue construido en el sitio de una fortificación temporal que se construyó por primera vez en 1798.
