La batalla de Cannas tuvo lugar el 2 de agosto del año 218 a. C. entre el ejército púnico, comandado por Aníbal Barca, y las tropas romanas, dirigidas por los cónsules Cayo Terencio Varrón y Lucio Emilio Paulo, en el marco de la segunda guerra púnica.
Desarrollada en la ciudad de Cannas, en Apulia, al sudeste de Italia, la batalla terminó con la victoria del ejército cartaginés, a pesar de la acusada inferioridad numérica de éstos. Tras la misma, Capua y varias otras ciudades Estado italianas abandonaron el bando de la
República romana.
