El Windlust fue originalmente construido en 1818 como molino de tierra y fue elevado a molino de postigo en 1886. El molino posee un equipo de trilla completo, aunque las piedras de trilla han sido retiradas. Estas se encuentran ahora en la planta baja. El molino ha sido restaurado en varias ocasiones y actualmente es propiedad del municipio de Het Hogeland. El molino se pone en funcionamiento una vez a la semana de forma voluntaria.
