Se encuentra al suroeste de Bolsward, al noroeste de Hieslum y al noreste de Workum. El núcleo del pueblo se sitúa al este de la N359, a ambos lados del Workumertrekvaart. En 2021, la aldea contaba con 485 habitantes. En gran parte, el pueblo incluye la pedanía de Angterp. Junto con Hieslum, tiene una asociación comunal conjunta, fundada en 1917, y también se les conoce como una aldea gemela.
