La Ciudadela en 's-Hertogenbosch es un antiguo fuerte. Este fuerte fue construido entre 1637 y 1645.
Un apodo de la Ciudadela es El Gafas de Papa. Este nombre se le debe al hecho de que debe supervisar a los católicos de Den Bosch.
En el lugar donde se construyó la Ciudadela, había casas en los siglos XIV y XV, así como la Puerta de Orthen que se encontraba en el Bastión Orthenpoort. Esta puerta data del período entre 1315 y 1350. La construcción de esta puerta hizo que la Puerta de Bruselas quedara obsoleta.
La ciudadela era un fuerte con cinco puntos en el bastión. La construcción del fuerte comenzó poco después de la toma de la ciudad en 1629.
