Die Zitadelle in 's-Hertogenbosch ist ein ehemaliges Fort. Dieses Fort wurde zwischen 1637 und 1645 errichtet.
Ein Spitzname der Zitadelle ist Die Papenbrille. Das hat das Bauwerk dem Umstand zu verdanken, dass es die Aufsicht über die katholischen Bosschenaren führen muss.
An der Stelle, wo die Zitadelle errichtet wurde, standen im 14. und 15. Jahrhundert Häuser sowie das Orthen Tor, das am Bastion Orthenpoort stand. Dieses Tor stammt aus der Zeit zwischen 1315 und 1350. Durch den Bau dieses Tores war das Brüsseler Tor überflüssig geworden.
Die Zitadelle war ein Fort mit fünf Punkten im Bastion. Der Bau des Forts wurde kurz nach der Einnahme der Stadt im Jahr 1629 begonnen.
