El poeta y propietario de la finca A.C.W. Staring (1767-1840). El 'campesino' Staring tenía un ojo para la naturaleza y la forma en que explotaba la finca era muy inusual para su época. En los alrededores de Almen, trabajó en la mejora del 'drenaje' de las tierras agrícolas. Que su búsqueda de modernización no siempre fue apreciada, lo expresó en su poema 'El Campesino Orgulloso' (orgulloso = terco). Justo fuera del pueblo, junto al puente mencionado en el poema, se encuentra este letrero con cuatro líneas del poema.
