La esclusa en el canal Princesa Margriet se puso en funcionamiento en 1952, lo que redujo el tráfico marítimo en la esclusa de Lemster en Lemmer. La estructura es adecuada para el tráfico comercial y recreativo hacia y desde el IJsselmeer. La cámara de esclusa tiene una longitud de 260 metros y un ancho de 16 m. A mediados de la década de 1990 se construyó un nuevo puente alto aquí. Las dimensiones de la esclusa y el puente permiten el uso por parte de barcos de clase Va.
