El hermoso Gaasterland fue construido en 1912 por encargo de la Sociedad Gaasterland por el arquitecto de La Haya M.J. van der Schilden. Diseñó el edificio en un estilo que incorpora características del estilo de chalet. En 1925, la villa fue adquirida por la Fundación de Salud Pública de Utrecht para servir como casa de colonia de vacaciones para niños.
