La belle Gaasterland a été construite en 1912 sur commande de la Société Gaasterland par l'architect hagueois M.J. van der Schilden. Il a conçu le bâtiment dans un style qui incorpore des éléments du style chalet. En 1925, la villa a été achetée par la Fondation de santé publique d'Utrecht pour servir de maison de colonie de vacances pour enfants.
