La estación Woudenberg-Scherpenzeel estaba ubicada en la línea ferroviaria Kesteren - Amersfoort. Al mismo tiempo que se inauguraba esta línea el 18 de febrero de 1886, se entregó la estación para el transporte de pasajeros y mercancías.
La estación estaba exactamente en la frontera de los municipios de Woudenberg y Scherpenzeel, pero eso también la alejaba de los centros de ambas localidades. La estación se encontraba, por tanto, en 2 provincias, Utrecht y Gelderland. En el lado sur, junto al paso a nivel, se había construido un almacén de mercancías. Más tarde se añadieron más almacenes. En 1922 se modificó el lugar de maniobras debido a la construcción de una doble vía entre Amersfoort y Woudenberg-Scherpenzeel.
